Quick and Elegant Dandelion Note Card (part 1 of 3)

Here is a simple note card that you can make up in advance to have for a thank you note or any message that you need to send.  The extra special touch, though, is that you’ve made this lovely card yourself. The sentiments, both inside and out, come from the Stampin’ Up! Inspired Thoughts stamp set, that beautifully complements the Stampin’ Up Dandelion 3D embossing folder.

I usually keep a supply of these on hand at home and in my desk at work too.

Here are the cardstock measurements:

Cardstock# PiecesMeasurements
Basic White or Very Vanilla14-1/4” x 11” scored at 5-1/2”
Stampin’ Up! Polished Pink cardstock14” x 5-1/4”
Stampin’ Up! Vellum Cardstock13-3/4” x 5”
  • Emboss the vellum with the Stampin’ Up! Dandelion 3D Embossing Folder
    • If you find that the vellum seems to crack, it’s because vellum is brittle and this beautiful folder offers deep, 3D impressions.  If it is a problem, though, just place a piece of scrap printer paper in with the vellum and emboss them together.
  • Adhere the vellum to the Polished Pink mat by using glue or glue dots where they won’t show through.  The perfect place is behind the dandelion heads, which are so detailed that neither tape nor glue dots will show through. Also, you can use adhesive where the sentiment will be.
Adhesives will often look like grease spots when they show through vellum – ewwww.
  • Wrap some ribbon around the panel and adhere to the back of the Polished Pink panel.
    • Don’t have matching ribbon?  I keep a stash of the Stampin’ Up White Crinkled Seam Binding on hand.  Use a Stampin’ Blend matching the color of the cardstock to create the perfect matching ribbon on the fly!
Use the side of the brush tip end of the Stampin’ Blend markers to “dye” the white ribbon for a custom color match.
  • Use liquid glue or Stampin’ Seal to adhere the panel to the card base.
  • Choose a sentiment for the tag.  I’ve chosen the Stampin’ Up! Inspired Thoughts set for both sentiments on the face and the inside of the card.  Using the Stampin’ Up! Tailored Tag punch, I’ve punched the sentiment out for the front and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals, making sure that I’ve covered those adhesive “stains”.
  • Tie a bow for an extra touch and adhere to the tag.
  • The inside may be left blank for a notecard, or you can choose a coordinating message. (Stampin’ Up! Inspired Thoughts offers a lot of options.)

And voila!  You’re done!

If you like my choices, I’ve included a supply list to help you find them easily.

Fun and pretty card – I love that embossing folder! Thank you for the tip with the printer paper – I’m going to have to give that a try! 🙂

My pleasure! The 3D folders are so beautiful and give the most detailed impressions. I’ve never seen paper or cardstock crack – but vellum is fairly brittle. On the other hand, the way vellum turns white in the embossing process makes it a perfect medium. Thanks so much for taking time to view this entry!
