Blackberry Beauty Mosaic Card

The new Stampin’ Up! Blackberry Beauty Designer Series Paper is a beautiful suite of papers that are double-sided and rich in color and foiling.  I have such an aversion to cutting up beautiful stock, though.  Of course, this issue probably explains why my craft room is bulging with more paper than I could use in my current lifetime.

One of the benefits of being a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator, though, is that I MUST cut it up…all in the line of duty, you know!  Now that I am becoming more capable of “sacrificing” a sheet of paper for a card, I find that it is very addictive – and Stampin’ Up! provides us with So. Many. Choices.

This beautiful card shows the Blackberry Beauty DSP to its best advantage.  We get to see all of the patterns in the pack on a single card.  How good is that?  And it is a straightforward card to make as it is only a bit of cutting and lots of punching with the Tailored Tag punch.

Here are the measurements for 2 cards:

 #PcsMeasurementsScoring
Card base25-1/2” x 8-1/2”scored at 4-1/4”
Gold foil mat  25” x 3-3/4”
Merry Merlot panel110” x 3-1/2”This will be enough for 2 mosaic panels
  • Once I had cut the card bases and mats, I punched quite a few pieces, using the Stampin’ Up! Tailored Tag punch.  I created 2 cards at once by covering the 3-1/2” x 10” panel with these pieces, creating a tiled effect.
  • Hint:  I let the tags flow over the edge of the card stock panel.  Once everything was glued into place, I flipped the panel over and trimmed the pieces down along the card panel edge.  Trying to work in the perfectly sized tag pieces would be too exhausting!  Glue now.  Trim later.
  • Mount each mosaic panel to a gold foil mat.
  • HINT:  Because the gold foil only shows about 1/8” around the border, I punched the sentiment tags from the middle.  No one will ever know that you’ve done it that way since the mosaic panel will cover it – and you aren’t wasting all of that beautiful gold foil real estate underneath!
  • I stamped the two sentiments that I had chosen from black Stazon Ink.  The Gold Foil does not have good “tooth” to grab on to die inks and it will not dry easily, if at all.  Stazon is a permanent ink that adheres to many slick surfaces such as this foil and acetate and other media.
  • (Take care to clean your stamps off promptly as Stazon will stain the photopolymer stamps.  I used the Stazon cleaning solution and then quickly washing the stamps with soap and water.  Photopolymer does not like the chemicals in the Stazon or its cleaning solution!)
    • By the way, the sentiments came from the Stampin’ Up! Sparkle of the Season stamp set.  And the shapes were cut from Stampin’ Up! Ornate Frames and the Stitched Rectangle die sets.  I think that using a gold foil Tailored Tag would work well too!
  • I added a very freeform “bow” to each card using the Stampin’ Up! Simply Elegant Trim pack and used dimensional to attach the sentiments to the face of each card.
  • The Stampin’ Up! Gilded Gems added just a little bit of golden sparkle.
  • Because the Merry Merlot is such a dark hue, I used a panel of Cinnamon Cider with a decorative strip of Gold Foil along the bottom for the message area inside.  (Sorry that the picture doesn’t show the gold foil well…)

Thanks for looking at today’s design!  Please let me know what you think!

The supplies that I used include the following.  I’ve also created a list of my “go to” card making equipment.
