A Simply Succulent Lacy Windowpane Card

What a pretty take on a lacy window!

This is a beautiful mosaic card that would adapt to any occasion – birthday, anniversary, thinking of you – or even a sympathy card.  Who would have guessed that the lacy Stampin’ Up! Potted Succulent cover die could be a stained glass window look?

The best part is that you only need 2 sheets of cardstock because there is nothing to match.  Have any card stock that doesn’t have any coordinating Designer Series Paper in your craft stash?  Or do you only have a couple of pieces left of a particular color? I have a package of Stampin’ Up! Purple Posy from a year or so ago and I just don’t seem to use it a lot.  This was a great candidate.

Here are the measurements:

 # PcsMeasurements
Purple Posy Cardstock for the base14-1/4” x 11”Score at 5-1/2”
Purple Posy Cardstock13-7/8” x 5-1/4”**Or you can cut this piece using Die #1 I embossed this with the Tasteful Textile embossing folder.
Purple Posy Cardstock13-1/8” x 4-1/2”**Or you can cut this frame using Die #3 and Die #5 together.
Purple Posy Cardstock13-1/4” x 4-1/2”This is the panel that will be used to cut the Potted Succulent cover die.
Purple Posy Cardstock scraps  For the sentiment
Basic White Cardstock12-7/8” x 4-1/4”This is the panel that lines the lacy panel.  I also embossed this panel using the Tasteful Textile embossing folder.
Basic White Cardstock14” x 5-1/4”Inside liner for the card message

**The Stampin’ Up! Stitched Rectangles die set figures in prominently here.  It produces beautifully finished pieces and frames.  In referring to these pieces in the measurement below, I will refer to this nest set with #1 representing the largest rectangle.  But I have also given you the measurements for the panels just in case you don’t have this die set.

Once I die cut the Potted Succulent cover die, I flipped the frame upside down on the table and adhered the lacy panel into the frame, trimming any part of the panel that is overhanging.  Then I added Stampin’ Up! Foam Adhesive Strips to allow the framed panel to pop up and then covered it with the Basic White liner.

With the frame “sandwich” complete, I adhered it to the larger Purple Posy stitched rectangle shape and then adhered the whole panel to the face of the card.

(As I was making this panel, I discovered that I had used all of my Stampin’ Up! Foam Adhesive Strips .  So I found some foam tape in my craft stash and cut it in half.  In all honesty, the Adhesive Strips are much better and a lot easier to use!)

Using the narrower Stitched Rectangle die from that earlier photograph, I stamped the sentiment which is from the Stampin’ Up! Simply Succulents Stamp Set from the Simply Succulents Bundle.

Once the message was stamped and adhered, this card is ready to go!

Oh, what is that label on the stamp set, I hear you query.  Whenever I buy a bundle that includes stamps and dies, I put the dies onto a magnetic sheet and store it with the coordinating stamp set.  I make up a label that reminds me of the stamp set’s name and the name of the coordinating die set. I have found that I have to remember the names of both the stamps and the dies unless I store everything this way. My goal is to make sure that everything in my collection is as usable and accessible as possible.  I store the dies’ folders in a box with a small note that tells me which stamp set includes that die set.

It works for me…but may not be for everyone.

Thank you so much for stopping in to see my card for today!  If you have any questions or if my directions weren’t clear, please give me a holler.
