A glimmering Hanukkah Greeting

With Hanukkah so close, time is running out to make cards.  So far, I’ve explored a gift card here and a Star of David Card here, and a wrapped gift card in my most recent post.  But sometimes all you really want to do is just send a greeting to friends and family.  This card would be a delight to receive.

This card used a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the Simply Elegant Collection:

Here are the measurements:

 Measurements
Simply Elegant DSP10” x 10”Scored per the directions below.
Silver Foil – Mat for inside message4-1/2” x 4-1/2”
Basic White Cardstock – Inside message4” x 4”
Silver Foil Scrap Enough to punch the scalloped oval with the Stampin’ Up! Double Oval Punch
Basic White Cardstock Scrap Enough to punch the inner oval with the Stampin’ Up! Double Oval Punch

I cut the paper at the 10” mark.  With a soft pencil, I marked the top 10” border at the 5” point and drew a line lightly down for a couple of inches.  I placed a ruler at one of the corners and moved it until the 10” mark touched the midpoint line that I had drawn.  I drew the line and then repeated the process with the other corner so that I have an equilateral triangle whose sides all measured 10”.

Once the triangle was cut, I placed the triangle on a score board and scored it at 4-1/2” and at 6”.  Rotate the triangle to the next edge and score at 4-1/2″ and 6″ again. Repeat again for the third side.

Once the triangle has been folded into a star, it’s time to create the inside message panel.  Using the silver foil and the basic white paper, I cut two more equilateral triangles – one with 4-1/2” and 4” sides.

It was then time to stamp the sentiments:  Happy Hanukkah from the Stampin’ Up! Snowflake Wishes set and “May the sparkle of the season warm your heart and home” from the Stampin’ Up! Sparkle of the Season set.

Adhere the inside sentiment to the center of the opened card and then fold the card starting with the lower right point.  Fold the lower left point next and finally tuck the top point inside the first fold.

With the folding complete, the outside “Happy Hanukkah” sentiment was placed on the top fold with Stampin’ Dimensionals that still allow the card to open.

And what card is complete without lots of bling?  I used Stampin’ Up! Basic Rhinestone Jewels on the sentiment itself, as well as in the center of several of the medallions.  I tried to get the shine and bling to show in these photos:

This card will fit into a 5” x 7” envelope as is.  But you can also resize a 5” x 7” envelope by trimming it down so that it measures 6-1/4” or even 6-1/2” across.  Then reglue the sides and your envelope is now the custom size for this card!

Thanks so much for taking a look at this pretty Hanukkah card! If I can answer any questions about how I’ve made this card, please leave a comment below and I will respond asap.

If you would like to use the same materials that I have used for this card, please see the list below for the specifics:
