Some Daffodil Daydreams for a cold winter day…

Is it cold and crummy outside?  It sure is here in New England where we have more than half the region under a blizzard warning.  I’m in southwestern New Hampshire, so we are saved from the high winds of the coastal storm.  But we’re still thinking that we will have 8”-12” through the day.

That made me decide to do something quick and easy – and spring-y.  I wanted to focus on one bundle – Stampin’ Up! Daffodil Daydreams – and, in fact, this design features the Daffodil Afternoon DSP.  Where would you get this lovely bundle – and the DSP?

The new Mini Catalog for January-June 2022 features the Daffodil Daydreams bundle, which includes the beautiful stamps and a layering die set.  But here’s the kicker:  if you order this bundle between January 4 and February 28, you can get the Daffodil Afternoon free!  The Sale-a-bration event offers some awesome, free stamps and papers.  But I just love this Daffodil Afternoon paper especially as it is vivid and versatile!

In fact, you might even call this design a “one sheet wonder”, as the single piece of Daffodil paper created 5 beautiful cards, with a bit leftover.  It’s sort of genius, as this pattern is a border print, and it allows you to make several cards very easily.  In fact, here is a cutting guide for making 6 A-2 cards or 4 A-2 cards and (1) 5” 7” card, as I’ve done for this project today:

The cuts are familiar, as the delight of this card is in its simple construction rather than crazy paper-engineering techniques:

For each A-2 Card:PcsMeasurementsDescription
Stampin’ Up Very Vanilla cardstock14-1/4” x 11”Scored on the long side at 5-1/2”
Stampin’ Up! Evening Evergreen cardstock14” x 5-1/4”For mat on card face.
Daffodil Afternoon DSP13-3/4” x 5”This is the panel cut per the template above.
For a 5” x 7” Card:PcsMeasurementsDescription
Stampin’ Up Very Vanilla cardstock17” x 10”      Scored on the long side at 5”
Stampin’ Up! Evening Evergreen cardstock14-3/4” x 6-3/4”For mat on card face.
Daffodil Afternoon DSP14-1/2” x 6-1/2”This is the panel cut per the template above.

After gluing the printed panel to the mat and the mat to the card base, I decorated the front of the card to highlight this already-terrific design.  I spattered Wink of Stella to the assembled card face, by “whacking” the pen against a bone folder so that the card would twinkle like raindrops.  Then I added a butterfly, cut from Pale Papaya and Flirty Flamingo card stock with the Brilliant Wings Dies.  I chose these colors to complement the tiny flowers on the print in these same colors.  And let’s not forget to paint them with a Wink of Stella too!

Some Stampin’ Up! Gold Glitter Enamel Dots and my favorite Brushed Brass Butterflies complete the blinginess!

The sentiments on the notecards “every storm that comes also ends”, which was perfect for a blizzardy day here – with the inside sentiment that reads “live life in full bloom” are from the Flowering Rain Boots Stamp set.  But the sentiments for the 5” x 7” card are from Flowing Flowers set.  Also note that the 5” x 7” card inside message includes one of the remaining panels from the DSP border print, yet it still leaves enough space to write your message!

I created a banner for each sentiment on the card face using Very Vanilla paper and highlighted each one with a wrapped piece of Flirty Flamingo 1-4” Metallic Ribbon.

And that’s it!  Stampin’ Up! frequently creates a border print design within its Designer Series Paper Packs and these offer us a quick and easy design for us.  But the “quick and easy” part isn’t something that the recipient sees.  The “quick and easy” looks detailed and complex to the recipient – the best of both worlds!

Thanks for stopping in today to take a look at my project!  If you need cards to send an encouraging note – or to brighten someone’s day, these One-Sheet Wonder cards will build up your supply quickly and in style!

Here is a list of the supplies that I used for today.  Please remember, though, that there are “investment pieces” for every wardrobe.  It’s the same for our cardmaking hobby.  You don’t need everything.  You just need the things that let you create from YOUR heart!

Thanks so much, Mary! I think that these border prints are just brilliant in so many of the DSP packs…and they make up into beautiful cards quickly and with pizzazz.

Thank you so much, Carol!! Butterfly Brilliance is one of the those “investment pieces”, I think. It offers beautiful stamps and sentiments – and butterfly dies that are stackable, or plain, or intricate. It’s one of those that is timeless too..and won’t look like it from “the early 20s” down the road.

Thanks so much for visiting today!
