A Friendly, if flippant, Hello…

The January/February 2022 Sale-a-bration opportunity will be gone in a little over a week.  This fun campaign offers quite a few stamp sets and designer series paper packs for free with purchases of $50 or $100 – AND they are only available for a limited time.  (February 28th is the last day.)

I have fallen in love with almost everything in this great little sale brochure – and I want to be sure that you can see the fun and versatile range of cards that they can make!

My card for today is a very simple Z-fold card.  Z-folds are nothing more than a standard card whose front cover is folded back, revealing half of the inside of the card.  It is that simple!  And yet, I have never seen a card like this in a retail card display.  Your recipient will see it as a special, handmade hug from you.

I have used two of the Sale-a-bration items for it:  Friendly Hello Bundle and the Special Moments stamp set.  When you looked at the Special Moments, did you see the very fresh little sayings “I have something for you” and then “You’re holding it”?

I didn’t either, at first.  But I really had to laugh when I did.

I decided that the best laughs are the unexpected ones.  So, I have dressed this little card in very pretty trappings and then surprised my friend with this very fresh little greeting. It did make her laugh!

Here are the card cuts:

PcsMeasurementsDescription
Stampin’ Up Pool Party cardstock15-1/2” x 8-1/2”Scored on the long side at 4-1/4”.  And then scored again at 2-1/8”
Stampin’ Up! Friendly Hello DSP14” x 5-1/4”For inside of card.
Stampin’ Up! Friendly Hello DSP Cardstock21-7/8” x 5-1/4”These are the panels on the front and inside of Z-fold.
Stampin’ Up! Friendly Hello DSP #2 pattern Cardstock (I used the reverse side, but you can choose another pattern if you prefer.)13-1/4” x 4-3/4”This is approximate as it will be die cut with a Scalloped Contours Die
Stampin’ Up! Basic White Cardstock12-3/4” x 4”This is approximate as it will be die cut with a Scalloped Contours Die.
Stampin’ Up! Basic White Cardstock12” x 3-1/4”This is also approximate as it will be dies cut with a Scalloped Contours Die.
  • Score along the long edge of the Pool Party cardstock base at 4-1/4” and fold.  Then fold the front flap of the card back toward the original crease.  Voila!  A Z-Fold…
  • Use the Scalloped Contours Dies.  There are 5 contour dies in the set.  If they were numbered from 1-5 with #1 being the largest, use #2 to cut the contrasting Friendly Hello DSP.  Then with the two small pieces of Basic White cardstock, use #3 and #4 to create the last 2 die cuts.
  • Stamp some floral images from Friendly Hello in Pool Party ink on the Basic White rectangles.  (I used the “sprinkles” because they add so much detail!)  The first impression may be too dark, so do not hesitate to “stamp off” the first image on scrap paper and then do the second generation on the 2 white rectangles.
  • Using the 2 sentiment stamps from Special Moments, I stamped the “I have something for you” on the small rectangle with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Then I stamped the “You’re holding it” on the larger rectangle.  (Be careful to stamp the right sentiment on the right rectangle because the longer sentiment goes on the smaller rectangle.  It is counter intuitive.  I know that you can imagine WHY I am reminding you to do this right!)
  • Adhere the floral panels to the front and inside flaps.
  • Using the large DSP rectangle, center it on the front of the closed card.  Remember to use adhesive ONLY on the left side of the rectangle so that it will stick to the left flap without sealing the card shut.
  • Mount the small sentiment block in the center of the DSP rectangle.
  • Tuck the larger white sentiment block inside the card – in the center.  Just be sure that it is hidden by the front of the card when it is closed.
  • Tie a piece of ribbon around the left flap and use some Genial Gems to add bling.
  • This is such a cute, feminine card that the envelope should follow suit with a DSP flap and even some Pool Party flowers on the front.

Done!  All you need to do is wait for the recipient’s laugh when she (or he) receives this lovely, flowery card with such an unexpected and fresh little message!

Laughter is healing…pass it along…

You will see this card in 2 challenges this week. I am delighted to be submitting it to the TGIF Challenge #356 and Watercooler Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes – Celebrating the End. This is the final challenge at Watercooler Wednesday and I am sad to see it end! Thanks so much for all of the work that these challenges take and for the fun of trying to create to the specs!

Thanks so much for stopping in today!
