Saying farewell to our Friendly Hello

One of the loveliest Fancy Folds is a Bookfold Card, in my opinion.  It starts as a rectangle and the scoring allows the card to open to a square.  It can be elegant or playful – and it makes great use of smaller pieces of paper.

I decided to use this lovely fold with the last of the Friendly Hello DSP in my paper stash.  As you are probably aware, the Friendly Hello bundle is one of the sets that you can get for FREE during the Jan-Feb Sale-a-bration.  But this event ends on the 28^th!  Both pieces in this bundle are wonderful to work with!

Here are the cutting instructions:

Once the pieces are cut, score and fold the card base.  Score the middle fold and then turn the card face back and burnish on the score line at 4-1/4”.

Using the scalloped edge die from the Hand-Penned Petals bundle, I cut a 4” border and adhered it to the 4” x 4” panel.  (Do this first so that the border may be trimmed before it is mounted to the card.)

Adhere the 4” x 4” DSP panel and the 1” x 4” strip on the card face.

I generally tie the bow at this point.  My card has a small white bow tied from the Stampin’ Up! White 3/8” Seam Binding ribbon.  I’ve tucked it into the area that will be glued down into the Bookbinding side of the card.  Once you have the bow the way you want it, glue the panel down and the card fold is complete.

I decided to use the Everyday Labels punch and stamped the sentiment from Hand Penned Petals bundle.  Just to add a bit of interest and texture, I dry embossed the label using the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder.  If you prefer, this tag could be mounted on the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  But I glued it directly to the card face.

I decorated the inside message panel with a stamp from the Hand-Penned Petals bundle with Fresh Freesia ink to match the card base.  (I also used this same stamp with Fresh Freesia ink to decorate the face and the flap of the envelop.)

With a few Basic Pearl Jewels, I completed the card face.

This is a pretty little card that uses smaller pieces of Designer Series Paper.  So, it is a great candidate to use when you want some quick and easy cards that will use up your paper stash! (I’ll have another idea or two to finish using any other scraps that you may have from the Sale-a-bration’s wonderful collection – or any other stash of beloved paper scraps!)
