Cranes of Fortune Sympathy Card

This card uses the Stampin’ Up! Symbols of Fortune DSP as the backdrop for this subtle and elegant card.  I have to say that I went a little crazy with all the products that I used – but that is easily adapted.  But if you are a crazy Stampin’ Up! artist, you probably have a lot of these materials any way!

This is a 5” x 7” card with the following measurements:

I started by cutting all the flower shapes from the Penned Flowers dies and the gingko biloba leaves from the Good Fortune Dies.  Also note that the spray of flowers was stamped in Crumb Cake ink from the Stampin’ Up! Flowers of Friendship stamp set and then fussy cut.

I adhered the Basic White panel to the Crumb Cake mat after I had embossed it with the Stitched Greenery Die to add texture and interest to the background.  Then I arranged the strips of the Crumb Cake patterned Symbols of Fortune DSP in an irregular pattern.

Once this rich background was built, I arranged the floral spray of flowers and gingko biloba leaves on the left side with a sentiment to the right.  The sentiment was created from Stitched So Sweetly dies and stamped with the message of sympathy wish from Inspired Thoughts in Soft Succulent Ink.

The inside of the card has a Crumb Cake mat with the Basic White message panel on it.  The sentiments are also from Stampin’ Up! Inspired Thoughts on a matted tag stamped with Soft Succulent Ink.  There is a small gingko biloba leaf in the lower corner to carry the design into the message area.

And that is it!  I do not usually do lots of layers like this card – as my mentor, Mary Deatherage is famous for!  But I have admired that design for a long time, and it is just beautiful and rich. So here is my attempt to CAS some of Mary’s designs!

It is never a good thing to need a sympathy card…but if needed, it should portray the depth of your feeling for the loss that a friend or family member is feeling.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today!  If you have any questions, please let me know as I love to brainstorm about our art!

And if you need a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, please know that I would be delighted to help you in any way!

The following is a list of the many supplies that I enjoyed using on this design:
