Pretty Flower Pots filled with Hues of Happiness

You may not recall seeing a picture of all the flowers from the Stampin’ Up! Hues of Happiness DSP that I fussy cut a while back.  Fussy cutting is one of those soothing activities of mine for in front of the TV binge watching a series – or a movie.  I find it relaxing…but many of us do not.

I get a little intense…

That is one of the reasons that this DSP is so awesome:  the Happiness Abounds bundle has dies that will do all of that cutting for you!  Yippee!  I love it when they do that.

I have been making all kinds of cards with these beautiful blooms and this is my latest:

It is a fun fold – but a simple one in terms of numbers of paper pieces.  But it is no less eye-catching than some of those “piecier” pieces…

Here are the paper cuts:

PcsMeasurementsDescription
Stampin’ Up Night of Navy cardstock14-1/2” x 5-1/2”Scored on the long side at 2-3/4”
Stampin’ Up! Pool Party cardstock13-3/4” x 4”This will become the base of the flowerpot.
Stampin’ Up! Pool Party cardstock22-1/2” x 4”These are the mats for the card face and the inside mat.
Stampin’ Up Pool Party cardstock11” x 4-1/4”This strip is the pot rim of the flowerpot.
Stampin’ Up Basic White cardstock13-3/4” x 4”This is the flowerpot base for the back of the card.
Stampin’ Up! Basic White cardstock22-1/4” x 3-3/4”These are the smaller mats for the card face and the inside mat.
Stampin’ Up! Basic White cardstock11” x 4-1/4”This is the pot rim of the flowerpot on the back of the card.

I decided to do the stamping on this card first.  Using the sentiment from the Happiness Abounds bundle, I used Memento Tuxedo ink to stamp the birthday greeting.  Although I did not decide to do this until the card was almost complete, I added a teeny tiny tag to the front of the card using a small stamp from Hydrangea Haven stamp set for a “gift tag”.  You can certainly cut a small tag freehand.  But I happen to have that wonderful Stampin’ Up! Best Label Punch which is the perfect size.

With the white sentiment panel stamped, it is time to assemble the card panel.

Mount the sentiment panel onto one of the Pool Party panels measuring 2-1/2” x 4” and repeat that with the second Basic White panel on the other Pool Party panel.

With those ready to go, you will need to mount each of these on the Night of Navy card base that has been scored.  There is only one hint here:  place the sentiment panel on the inside of the dark blue base with the blank panel on the outside.

With the Basic White and the Pool Party panels that measure 3-3/4’ x 4”, I made 2 diagonal cuts that shape the flowerpot.  It will be important to make sure that these two pieces are identical.  My Stampin’ Up! paper trimmer can cut two pieces of card stock at once – so I did it as follows:

The panel should be aligned so that it is 4″ across.

I used a piece of grid paper on my desk and measured out a length of 5-1/2” to help me adhere the Pool Party flowerpot to the card base.  We want this card to be an A2 card (4-1/4” x 5-1/2”).

Once the Pool Party flowerpot is glued, adhere the Basic White flowerpot directly behind it to the back of the card.  Do not worry about the sloppy look at the top because those two 1” x 4-1/4” strips will provide a nice finish!

Now all that is left is the decorating!

I used a few of those pretty Hues of Happiness DSP blooms and leaves arranged in the flowerpot.  Stampin Up! Glossy Dots make great flower centers, while the Black and White ¼” Gingham Ribbon adds a lot of fun wrapped around this flowery gift!  And voila!

I love Pool Party and I am hoping that this color is never removed from the Stampin’ Up! line up.  But I love so many other colors.  And so many colors are represented in the Hues of Happiness flowers.

So, guess what?

I made some more cards in other colors!!  Surprised?

I used Melon Mambo and Blushing Bride cardstock for the pink pots and Mango Melody and Daffodil Delight for the yellow ones.  But there are purples and greens that would work too.

There is no end to the fun that you can have with this great Stampin’ Up! bundle or with the Hues of Happiness DSP!  It really does make you happy…as promised.

I decided to enter this card into the Anything Goes for June challenge. This month’s challenge is looking for a summery card – and I think that these cuties fit the bill!

Thanks so much for checking in on me today!  I hope that you love this cute little flowerpot.  Please let me know if you find other fun applications for it.  I will be incredibly surprised if you don’t!

If you want to know what I used, here are links to my online shop to help you find them.
