A Whirl of Leaf Fall

I love tone-on-tone cards, although I usually tend toward the blues and grays.  Instead, I decided to be inspired by Mary Fish at Stampin’ Pretty with her blog post of a few months ago.  (I was absolutely NOT ready for fall at that point…)

Stampin' Up! Leaf Fall 3D Embossing Folder

This pretty card uses Stampin’ Up! Forever Fern as well as the beautiful 3D Leaf Fall Embossing Folder.  It is a very straightforward design that is as elegant and rich as it is simple.

Stampin’ Up! Basic White cardstock14” x 5-1/4”This is for the inside card panel.
Stampin’ Up! Rings of Love Designer Series Paper   Or Stampin’ Up! Neutrals 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper (plaid design) 1-1/2” x 4” strip ScrapsThis is for the band on the card face as well as the embellishment on the inside of the card.   I noticed, however, that Rings of Love is no longer available at the time that I am publishing this.  So…   I would use the Crumb Cake plaid that is included in the Neutrals 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper.  I think that I might even like that better!

I made 4 at a time!

The assembly is very straightforward with the DSP and the sentiment band.  I first stamped the sentiment strip with Versamark, and heat embossed it with white powder from the Basics Embossing Powders set.  (I have said this before…but the Stampin’ Up! white embossing powder is some of the best on the market.)

I used one of the images from Forever Fern, which is THE classic stamp set as far as I am concerned!  It is probably among my all-time favorites – and I use it a LOT!  I used Soft Suede ink for this image and then die cut it for the front of the card.

I did use Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop the embossed panel up from the card base itself.  That is not my usual method – but I think that it might become my new “usual method.”  It looks great with that little lift.

The mild Blingologist in me decided to use the Brushed Metallic Adhesive-backed Dots to embellish the face of the card, along with a small bow wrapped around the stem of the stamped image.  I used the Stampin’ Up! Linen Thread to do that…and a fork to make such a tiny bow as easily as possible.

The inside message was stamped with Soft Suede ink, with DSP lining the bottom edge of the panel.

And that is all there is to it!

Again, would this pretty fall card be a better note…or card…or even an invitation to Thanksgiving dinner?  Or wow the hostess who invites you to dinner with a beautiful, handmade thank you card!  Oh, yeah….

Thanks so much for checking in on today’s card!  The list of materials for this card is fairly short…and remember that you can use other tone-on-tone combinations effectively for this seasonal card, too.  I am thinking that I will be exploring that myself…probably right after I finish writing this post!

Thank you so much, Mary!!! I truly appreciate that as the warmer tones aren’t usually my thing…I’m much more a blue/gray girl. But I think that the beiges are exactly right for fall and I appreciate your affirmation on that!!!
