A Cute Thank You Note from a Christmas Scottie

I love to have themed thank you notes when it is about a particular season – and Christmas gift thank you are generally needed in good supply.

However, most people are going to get their notes probably longer after the season than I might like.  So, I often feel that a traditional Christmas theme is just too late.  Enter our adorable Christmas Scottie Bundle!  This little guy is labeled as a Christmas set – but truly he is a canine for all seasons!

But add a little bit of wintery spice to the design – and he is a wonderful bearer of your gratitude!

Stampin' Up! Christmas Scottie

The card cuts are very simple which makes this design an excellent candidate for creating a batch of thank you cards:

PcsMeasurementsDescription
Stampin’ Up Blushing Bride or Fresh Freesia cardstock15-1/2” x 8-1/2”Scored on the long side at 4-1/4”
Stampin’ Up! Basic White cardstock24” x 5-1/4”One for the inside panel and the other for a mat on the card face.
Stampin’ Up! Blushing Bride or Fresh Freesia Cardstock13-3/4” x 5”Panel on the card face.
Stampin’ Up! Basic White Cardstock ScrapTo punch out Scottie dog.

As you can see, I have created cards in multiple colors – all non-traditional Christmas colors.  But the iridescent snowflake from the Stampin’ Up! Wonderful Snowflakes embellishments gives us the winter theme with some sparkle but without a Christmassy vibe.

Once you have created the card cuts, brush on Blushing Bride ink to create a very subtle background shadow effect.  Scottie and the snowflake are white – but the inked background creates texture easily to highlight our two embellishments.

TIP:  Many of the laser cut or other intricate embellishments are a challenge to glue to a card panel.  Although you can always use one of the fine-tipped glue bottles or Stampin’ Up! Fine-Tip Glue Pen which I love for so many other applications), I find that this method works best:

Put a few drops of the Multipurpose Liquid Glue on the back of your hand and spread it out.  Then pounce the So Many Snowflakes embellishment in the glue while turning it to hit as many of the fine ends as possible.

I find that this small amount of glue is perfect for adhering the snowflake to your card panel without having all of the messy glue puddles that invariably squish out as you apply it to the card.  This method is quick and easy – even if it is a little messy.  (It reminds me of how much fun it was to peel the white paste off of my fingers in elementary school!)

I used Stampin’ Up! Dimensionals and Mini Dimensionals to pop the puppy up in the lower right-hand corner of the card panel.  Before doing that, however, tie a cute little ribbon around his neck to dress him up!

I used my favorite Stampin’ Up! White ¼” Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon for this job.  It is easier to tie than many of the other ribbons AND you can use the Stampin’ Up! Blends in the color of your choice to match them to your card design.

Once the card face was complete, I mounted it on the Basic White cardstock mat and then on to the Blushing Bride card base.

The inside of the card is stamped with the beautiful cursive Thanks from Artistically Inked Stamp Set – which is one of my “classic” sets in my collection.  But Stampin’ Up! has given us so many beautiful Thanks and Thank You sentiments lately that you will have no trouble finding one that you like for this card.

I could not resist adding a smaller snowflake to this inside of the card from the Joyful Flurry set, which is retiring soon.

These are cute cards that lend themselves to making in batches – since thank you notes are often needed in batches!  Plus, they would be great gifts for a special person as well!

And, as you might predict, I tried this cute design in several colors: Fresh Freesia, Pool Party, and Smoky Slate.

Did I mention that I used my favorite Shimmer Spritz as well? The spitz is made by using a few drops of the Tsukineko All-Purpose Ink in champagne with 74% alcohol. I use the Stampin’ Spritzers for this purpose and I keep this mixture handy because who doesn’t like some sparkle!

Happy New Year to you!  It is hard to believe that another year has passed and that 2023 is upon us.  I wish you a happy, healthy year with peace in your life and in your heart.

Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can help you in your creative journey!
