Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-bration is going on now – or at least as of the time this post was published. I seldom just love everything in the Sale-a-bration flyer – or even the new mini catalogs. But both of these are exceptions to my usual rule!
Don’t get me wrong: I come to love a lot of the products that Stampin’ Up! sells along the way. But it is almost never love at first sight – I have transition issues here and there.
But, holy moley – the January/February timeframe is going to be a horrible situation with my credit card! I mean – I just want it all…and some of the coolest items are free!
Take the Dainty Flowers DSP as an example. This beautiful DSP pack is free with a $50 purchase between January 5 – February 28, 2023. This set of designer prints is amazing…and creates so many gorgeous cards at all levels, from simple, simple to incredibly detailed and blinged-out.
But here is a lovely, simple one with just a few embellishments:
I suspect that you may have seen this beautiful little wreath on Pinterest or Instagram or TikTok. It lends itself to an easy and elegant looking card with little effort. I have just added a couple of extras to it and voila, I have a beautiful and unique card for a friend!
Here are the (underwhelming) card cuts required:
# | Measurements | Notes | |
Stampin’ Up! Basic White Thick Card Stock | 1 | 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” | Scored along the long side at 4-1/4”. |
Stampin’ Up! Starry Sky Card Stock | 1 | 4” x 5-1/4” | Outside mat. |
Stampin’ Up! wreath design sheet from the Dainty Flowers DSP | 1 | 3-3/4” x 4-3/4” | Wreath panel for card face. I really winged this measurement. Essentially, I cut around the wreath carefully to try to get it centered. |
With the cardstock cut and ready to go, this card assembled easily by stamping my “friend” sentiment from the Happiness Abounds Stamp Set in the middle of the wreath in Starry Sky ink. While I was stamping, I also stamped the greeting on the inside of the Thick Basic White cardstock base – also in Starry Sky.
Before mounting the wreath panel, though, I decided to add a bit more texture by embossing it with the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder. The print itself has a look of texture in the background – which is photographed well. But I wanted an actual texture that my card’s recipient could feel!
I wrapped some white Baker’s Twine from the Essentials Pack around the Starry Sky cardstock mat. When using thicker ribbons or twines, I always find that it is best to pop the top panel up with either Stampin’ Up! Dimensionals or Foam Adhesive Strips. If you glue it directly over the twine, it can get squashed as it goes through the machine at the Post Office…ewwww.
With the twine in place and the wreath popped up, I glued the panels to the front of the Thick Basic White card base, being careful that I adhered everything in the right direction! My last step was to tie a small bow around the twine on the card face and BOOM! Done…
I love wreaths and I love the bright colors that the Dainty Flowers DSP includes. Remember that there is a panel on the back of each DSP pack that tells you what colors work with the designs!
LOVE!!
