A Dainty Flowers Border Print Easel Design

If you feel like I have already written about this card design, I have!

I love that Stampin’ Up! will include border prints at least once in almost every catalog set of Designer Series Papers.  I wrote this design up on November 9, 2022 with the Rustic Harvest border print.  And now, the Dainty Flowers DSP collection includes another border print.  It has a totally different color scheme and feel, but all of the great and quick card possibilities once again in time for warmer-weather themes.

Stampin' Up! Dainty Flowers DSP

I love that there are two 12” x 12” border prints in this pack, which can translate to 12 quick and beautiful cards!

One of my New Year’s resolutions was to reinstate my Birthday calendar book so that I will not forget another birthday!  And it also reminds me of the number of birthday cards that I need to have on hand.  With this border print, I can have 12 ready to go – or a few less with some great notecards too!

Here are the easy-peasy card cuts:

Stampin’ Up Bumble Bee cardstock14-1/4” x 11”Scored on the long side at 2-3/4” and 5-1/2”
Stampin’ Up! Bumble Bee cardstock14” x 5-1/4”I used this to mat the DSP layer to give it some additional body since the DSP is a lighter weight.  This is optional!
Stampin’ Up! Basic White cardstock12-1/4” x 4”This panel will be on the lower edge of the inside of the card.
Stampin’ Up! Border Print from Dainty Flowers DSP14” x 5-1/4”This is the main section of the border print for the card face.  See the cutting directions below.
Stampin’ Up! Border Print from Dainty Flowers DSP1¾” x 4”This will serve as the “door stop” on the inside of the card to support the easel when it is open.
Stampin’ Up! Bumble Bee card stock2-3¾” x 4”I will often use strips of scrap cardstock to pop up an image instead of Dimensionals.  I think that they withstand the pressures of the US Postal Service better – but this is also optional.

I love easel cards because they are just a little different than the average folded card without being too fussy.  They sit nicely for display – but fold nicely for sending.

I generally choose this method for the card because the design flows from the card face into the easel mechanism seamlessly.  I love this smooth transition – it is not the usual easel pattern and yet it is very easy to do with these border prints.  However, there is a trick to it.

I have used Stampin’ Up! Foam Adhesive strips on the stopper to lift it up enough to cover the outline margin on the card face.  Here is a comparison of the card without the dimensional strips and my final version using them:

The DSP sheet is cut in half at the 6” mark to separate into two halves of the design.  Then each strip is cut at the 4” mark with ¾” cut from the bottom edge of each sheet.

Each of these delicious, patterned sheets will let you create a set of 6 cards – which are perfect for your own use or as a gift set for someone special!

To create the card base, I cut and scored the Bumble Bee card stock per the chart above and folded each score line.

As I mentioned in the cutting chart, I decided to mount each of the DSP panels to the same sized Bumble Bee panel so that it would have a little bit more strength.  This is optional, but my original card seemed to be a little too delicate, in my opinion.  Give it a try so that you can decide.

The only thing that you need to be careful about is gluing the card face to the card base.  Be sure that you apply glue only to the bottom of the card base under the score line at 2-3/4”.  If you apply glue to the entire DSP panel, the easel will not work!  (Don’t find this out on your own…it is very frustrating.)

Glue the Basic White panel to the lower edge of the inside of the card and stamp a pattern if you wish.

I used some of the yellow Glossy Dots Assortment.  But I decided to use other embellishments on the other color versions of this same card.

There is a small space for a sentiment on the face of the card if you wish.  I used the sentiments from the Stampin’ Up! Flowers of Friendship stamp set – another of my go-to sets for images and sentiments.  They are stamped in Rich Razzleberry ink.  The sentiment on the outside of the card was punched out using the Label Me Fancy Paper punch and mounted on a ¾” strip of Bumble Bee cardstock.

I think that this is a great design for a new card maker.  It is an easy Fancy Fold that is done quickly with any of the border prints that Stampin’ Up! presents in each seasonal collection.  I just love them!

I will probably continue with gentle reminders about this design in the future.  Some might call it nagging.  I would prefer to think of it as “productive redundant presentations.”

The list below contains the supplies that I used.  If you do not have a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, I would be delighted to help you in any way.  However, if you do have one or if you are a Demonstrator, I would love to hear from you too, as creativity seems to grow exponentially when it’s shared!

Thanks so much, Amy – even if the design is a bit redundant, I think it is a good one – especially for quick cards that are so cute! Thanks so much for checking in on me today!

It’s my pleasure, Candy! Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions or if I haven’t been as clear as I could have been!
