I seem to be looking for get-well or “looking in on you” cards this week! And I like to make them upbeat and pretty…and interesting. If you are at home and under the weather, a card is nice…but an interesting card is even better!
That’s where this pretty Curtain Fold Card comes in. It is quick and easy…and with the measurements that I am providing below, you will be making 2 cards at once. (I mean, why waste a huge wedge of beloved Designer Series Paper with some of the other measurements that you will find out on Pinterest for this design?)
There are only a few cuts…and these will create 2 cards as easily as making just one:
# | Measurements | Notes | |
Stampin’ Up! Mossy Meadow Card Stock | 2 | 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” | Scored along the long edge at 5-1/2” for the card base. |
Stampin’ Up! Country Floral Lane DSP | 1 | 5-1/2” x 11-1/2” | This will make 2 cards. See cutting instructions and template below. |
Stampin’ Up! Petal Pink Card Stock | 2 | 4” x 5-1/4” | Inside message panel mat. |
Stampin’ Up! Basic White Card Stock | 2 | 3-3/4” x 5” | Inside sentiment panels to be stamped and decorated. |
Stampin’ Up! Country Floral Lane DSP | 2 | 1/2” strips | These strips will line the bottom border of the inside message panel to bring the theme inside. |
- Fold both Mossy Meadow Card Bases at the 4-1/4” line and set aside.
- With one of the Country Floral Lane DSP triangles, place the long side up against the edge of the Paper Trimmer and score at 3”, 4”, 6”, 7”, 9” and 10”. Starting at the 10” score line, fold the paper up (in a mountain fold) and then alternately in valley and mountain folds.
- To stabilize the “curtain”, apply a small amount of glue in the folds to hold them in place.
- Once the curtain folds are glued, flip the curtain over and use Tear and Tape across the top of the piece to apply it to the card base.
- Adhere the curtain along the top of the card base. (I use the corner edges of my Stamparatus to be sure that I align them up well the first time. The Tear and Tape is not particularly forgiving…but I am not good with liquid glue…)
- Using the Stamparatus or some other stamp placement tool, situate the “Hello” sentiment from the Go to Stamp set near the right corner of the card face. Stamp with Versamark ink and use white embossing powder from the Basics Embossing Powder set. Allow the Heat Tool to get hot and melt the powder in place.
- Use the Petal Pink Ribbon and adhere it around the top of the card, centering it in the shortest pleat of the curtain. Tear and Tape across the top of the card works well to adhere the ribbon. Tie a small bow and use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere it on the ribbon.
- The inside message panel is stamped with the “Sending get-well wishes your way” from the Stampin’ Up! Heavenly Hollyhocks Stamp set. Glue one of the ½” strips of Country Floral Lane DSP along the bottom, then mount the sentiment panel to one of the Petal Pink mats. Glue the completed panel inside the card base, making sure that it is going in the right direction. (I really have to be sure to do this every.single.time.)
I realize that the Petal Pink Ribbon that I have used is now retired. If you do not have any in your craft supplies, think about using my “go to” solution to every ribbon issue: White ¼” Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon. This is amazing stuff and can be “dyed” using a Stampin’ Blends pen to match your color scheme. This is such a lifesaver for me!
I have a list of the supplies that I have used on this card…just in case it is helpful…
Most excellent fun fold – and thank you for the handy template! It’s so pretty with that DSP, too! 🙂
Thanks so much, Mary!! I had always wanted to try this one – and once I had figured out the template so that you can cut two curtain panels at a time, these cards almost make themselves!!
So pretty! Such a great fun fold, love the colors! 🙂
Thank you so much, Amy!! I’ve always been intrigued by this design and just had to try it! SU has so many beautiful DSP patterns that would make this design just shine too…
