This Bunny is Dancing in the Rain!

And it is not raining men – it’s raining flowers!  What could be better?

What is that saying?  “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass.  It’s about learning how to dance in the rain.”  And if this little guy isn’t a good example, I cannot imagine who could be.

Stampin' Up! Rain or Shine DSP

Our bunny is dancing on a shaker card where all of the little bits are the cutest embellishment that I have seen in a while:  Stampin’ Up! Loose Daisy Embellishments.  They are tiny little daisies in yellow and white – who wouldn’t dance if these were falling with the raindrops!

The card cuts are as follows:

 #MeasurementsNotes
Stampin’ Up! Basic White Thick Card stock15-1/2” x 8-1/2”Scored along the long edge at 4-1/4”.
Stampin’ Up! Smoky Slate Card Stock14” x 5-1/4”This is the mat for the front panel
Stampin’ Up! Rain or Shine DSP (Cloud panel)13-3/4” x 5”This is the backdrop for the shaker panel.  Make sure that there are some clouds showing through.
Stampin’ Up! Rain or Shine DSP (Raindrop design)13-3/4” x 5”This is the front panel of the shaker piece.
Stampin’ Up! Rain or Shine DSP (Bunny image)1 I fussy cut the bunny for this design, as I tend to do when we have cute images in a DSP pack!
Stampin’ Up!  Window Sheet13” x 3”This is the acrylic panel that will serve as the “window” for the shaker.   If you do not have the Window Sheet stock, use leftover packaging that will cover the opening.  Improvising is always ok!
  1. Once all of the card pieces are cut, cut the 2-1/2” circle in the Rain or Shine DSP – raindrop panel.  I used a 2-1/2” circle punch and placed the circle on the upper center of the panel.  But there are circle dies in the Layering Circles Die set that will work perfectly.

    2. Stamp the sentiment on the lower right corner of the panel with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  The sentiment is from Stampin’ Up! Color and Contour stamp set.

    3. Adhere the Window Sheet panel to the back of the circle cut to create the shaker window.  I used Tear and Tape for this to be sure that the slippery acrylic panel is secure.

    4. Using Stampin’ Up! Foam Adhesive Strips, outline the circle so that it will provide space for the daisy embellishments to jump around after the card is complete.  (I neglected to take a picture of this part of the construction.  But I have directions with pictures on an earlier post that may help you picture this step.)

    5. Carefully sprinkle some of the Loose Daisy Embellishments inside the circle on the Window Sheet so that the little bits have good space to move around when the card is shaken.

    6. Before adhering the back (cloud) panel to the front shaker panel, I glued a few daisies so that it would look like they were still falling even when the card was on display.  This is a matter of taste though.

    7. Apply more Foam Adhesive Strips around the edge of the front window panel to make the completed piece pop out.  Then carefully line up the Cloud panel (face down) over the Window panel and press into place.  Be careful with the alignment, though, as you only have one shot at it!

    8. Do you have edges showing when you turn the completed shaker panel over?  No big deal – just trim them carefully with scissors!

    9. Adhere the shaker panel to the Smoky Slate panel so that there is a thin border.  Then adhere the complete piece to the Basic White Thick Card Stock card base.

    10. Stamp the inside sentiment using the Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and one of the other sentiments from the Color and Contour stamp set.

    11. Place the bunny cut out near the “daisy rain” window and voila!

Stampin' Up! Rain or Shine DSP

Who wouldn’t love this happy guy splashing in a rain puddle?  The best part of this beautiful DSP is that there is a glimmer ink that highlights the rain drops and the bunny’s shirt and puddle!  Nothing else is needed – unless you NEED to add more!

And what a nice greeting inside!  There are so many amazing people in our lives – and maybe we should tell them more often!

Thank you so much for stopping in to visit the bunny and me today.  I hope that you will find this design a great way to use up some of that great DSP that you have in the craft stash – as well as spreading some joy with happy mail to a friend or family member.

Here is a list of the supplies that I have used today:
