A hello greeting that is Full of Love

I love layered cards.  I particularly love crisp colors on crisp layers – and we have a bunch of potentials with our current In Colors.  Today’s card tries to take advantage of those full combinations with this Full of Love card and, yes, well…it is a little summery. But who doesn’t need a brightly colored floral card anytime during the year?

I have been exploring a lot of possibilities with the Full of Love stamp set.  Most of these have had a clean and simple look to them, with texture and dimension adding to the richness of the designs.  But I wanted to play with layers and colors today.

This idea started as I was working with the Stampin’ Up! Tea Boutique Designer Series Paper.  There is one pattern that features little envelopes stuffed with flowers – and voila, my idea for yet another Full of Love card!

Here are the card cuts for this design:

Stampin’ Up! Thick Basic White Card Stock14-1/4” x 11”Scored along the long side at 5-1/2”.
Stampin’ Up! Basic White Card Stock14” x 5-1/4”This panel will be the foundation of the decorated front panel of this card.
Stampin’ Up! Tea Boutique DSP Card Stock1 2-1/2” X 5-1/4”This is for the card face.
Stampin’ Up! Starry Sky Card Stock11/8” x 5-1/4”This will provide that thin edge along the DSP panel.
Stampin’ Up! Sweet Sorbet Card Stock13” x 3”Mat for focal image panel on card face.
Stampin’ Up! Basic White Card Stock12-3/4” x 2-3/4”Smaller mat for focal image.  (Or you can stamp the focal image and color it on this piece, if you hate to fussy cut!)
Stampin’ Up! Basic White Card Stock ScrapsThis scrap needs to be big enough to accommodate the large envelope and floral image.  A second piece needs to be available for the smaller flower image.

I stamped the letter and flowers image from the Stampin’ Up! Full of Love stamp set, using Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  I used Sweet Sorbet, Highland Heather, and Shaded Spruce.  This color scheme is reflected in the DSP.  Because I like to fussy cut, I chose to stamp the image and cut it out.  But you can just as easily stamp the image on the 2-3/4” x 2-3/4” Basic White panel itself.  In either case, using Stampin’ Dimensionals to make it pop is a great idea!

I assembled the front panel by gluing the DSP panel to the 4″ x 5-1/4” Basic White panel.  Then I used a very very thin line of glue up against the DSP panel and applied the 1/8” strip of Starry Sky cardstock as a border.

I used Starry Sky ink to stamp the “hello there”.

I fussy cut the envelope image after I colored it with Stampin’ Blends. There are actually two different color schemes that I used because I love to experiment with the colors. The criteria was that it looked crisp and fresh. My first picture shows a suite of Stampin’ Blends including Sweet Sorbet, Shaded Spruce, and Tahitian Tide. The second card will show that I used Sweet Sorbet, Shaded Spruce, Fresh Freesia.

I assembled the card face, mounted it to the Basic White Cardstock base and, voila, a card!

I added Basic Pearl Jewels that I colored with a Stampin’ Blend Dark Daffodil Delight to create centers in the posies on the envelope image. And that was it! It looked like enough to me – but that is personal preference for sure…

I did do some decorating on the inside panel to bring the theme through to my personal message to the card’s recipient. The stamped message and the thin, 1/2″ strip of DSP along the bottom leaves plenty of space for a handwritten message:

And that is it!  I love this fun image matched to a DSP that comes from a different collection. The Tea Boutique DSP is its own thing – but the envelope images tie it perfectly to the Full of Love Stamps. This is another example of the way Stampin’ Up! products are designed to interrelate with each other so that we can craft easily and with beautiful results!
