In a dog-eat-dog world, there’s nothing like having a Christmas Scottie!

All of us have a style that emerges as we pick out stamps and dies for our collection.  I have found that I have a hundred versions of various flowers…and that realization as I was organizing one day made me realize that I needed to branch out.  My friend, Ro, is a critter person – if there is a critter stamp, she has it, wants it, or it’s on order!

As time has gone on, I have found that I do sort of like the dog and cat stamps – iffy on other critters, landscapes, people…but flowers, dogs and cats are probably overly represented in my permanent collection.

But how can anyone say “no thanks, I have enough” when Stampin’ Up! comes up with a bundle as cute as the Christmas Scottie?

Stampin' Up! Christmas Scottie

This little guy is perfect for the holidays, for sure!  But watch for his reappearance in the new year as well!  He is just too cute for words…as Bella and Friends, Pampered Pets, Nine Lives, etc. etc. are.  (BTW, all of these are retired – but there is always some new pets in current collections by Stampin’ Up!  But this is what I mean when I talk about that permanent collection!)

This card is as quick and easy as it is adorable!  Here are the card cuts:

PcsMeasurementsDescription
Stampin’ Up Real Red cardstock14-1/4” x 11”Scored on the long side at 5-1/2”.
Stampin’ Up! Basic White cardstock24” x 5-1/4”One is for the inside panel.  The second one is embossed using the Stampin’ Up! Whimsical Woodland 3D embossing folder for the outside mat.
Stampin’ Up! Gingham Cottage DSP12” x 4-1/2”This is for the band around the face of the card.  I cut them longer than the mat so that I can fold them around the mat, creating a more finished look.
Stampin’ Up! Basic White Cardstock ScrapFor the white circle #3 from the Stampin’ Up! Layering Die Set and the sentiment strip along the bottom.
Stampin’ Up! Real Red Cardstock ScrapEnough to die cut the second largest scalloped circle in the Layering Circles Die set.
Stampin’ Up! Basic Black Cardstock ScrapEnough for the largest scalloped circle from the Layering Circles Die.
Stampin’ Up! Gingham Cottage DSP1½” x 4”For border on the inside of the card.
Stampin’ Up! Gingham Cottage DSP ScrapEnough for the bow punch.

With all of the pieces cut and embossed per the chart above, I assembled the white embossed panel for the outside of the card.  As I have mentioned before, I always cut a band for a card face so that it is long enough to wrap around the card instead of just meeting at the edge.  It takes a little bit more DSP or an extra minute or two, but I like the finished look, for all angles!

The Scottie dog medallion includes Basic Black, the Real Red and the Basic White circles layered to present our cute little dog in the middle.  I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop the little guy up on his perch for some texture!  Do not forget to dress him up with a bow punched from the Scottie Dog punch!

I decided to use the “Happy Christmas” stamp for my sentiment from the Joyful Flurry stamp set because it was so clean and simple.

The inside panel is stamped with the swirling ribbon stamp from the Christmas Scottie set, as well as the “may your days be furry and bright” wishes.  I placed the 1/2” wide strip of Gingham Cottage DSP along the bottom of the white panel and adhered it to the inside of the card.

Stampin' Up! Christmas Scottie

And we have a playful, furry bundle of Christmas joy to send our best wishes to all of the other dog-lovers in our lives!!

Can you bling him up a bit?  Absolutely – but I decided to stay with just a little bit of Wink of Stella on his cute bow!

Voila! Ici!!
