Are you a busy career person? Spouse? Parent? Grandparent? Do you love to make cards but have discovered that collecting cardmaking “stuff” is the only part of the hobby you have time to engage in?
Yup. Me too. My New Year’s Resolutions year after year contained lots of fluffy stuff…lose weight, run, be a more present spouse/parent/daughter/friend. All of that got lost within the month of January – every year.
BUT, I always included the resolution to make my own Christmas cards each year. (Just one project in the hobby that I loved so much!)
It was a specific goal – so I would actually get that done. Well, most years…if I planned well…starting in July… Sound familiar?
Or are you finally able to spend some time on yourself and your hobby – with everyone out of the house – or at least at work or school? But you sit down to all these beautiful “toys” that you’ve collected or that you are seeing in the stores and on the internet – and just don’t know where to start.
Perhaps I can help you with that…
I was having that exact same issue. There were just too many choices – so I bought too many things and most remain unused!
My daughter, who is a school psychologist, has mentioned to me that you give young children choices – but you limit them to only a couple. Too many choices and the child can’t focus. Narrow it down and the child can choose and feels happy for the control in his or her life.
Hmmm – that was my problem: too many choices and not enough focus…makes sense to me.
So, in the spirit of a good self-care activity, I decided to narrow my cardmaking down to one company and narrow my focus. Perhaps if I only used their products and equipment I would gain some traction and get things done. But which company –
My criteria included:
- well engineered equipment,
- a wide selection of stamps and dies within the brand, and
- coordinated products in terms of theme and color.
Once I surveyed the market, I made my choice: Stampin’ Up! I love their equipment and I think that it represents some of the best engineering in the marketplace. (Did I mention that I have an obscene number of things like die-cutting machines, and trimmers, etc., etc.?) While many of the others are excellent, I was finding that I reached for my Stampin’ Up! equipment most.
Their themes and colors are matched beautifully. Everything is labelled so that I don’t spend endless amounts of time trying to match papers with markers with cardstock.
And even with all of this coordination, the creative outlet is amazing!
So, I’ve decided to become an independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, who understands that YOU want to create too…but that you don’t have much time!
I’m here to help you “get ‘er done”. I’ll show you easy card designs that will impress. But I’ll also indulge that “overachiever” in you that wants to send the BEST card for your friend’s wedding, anniversary, baby shower, birthday – a loving thought to your mom, your kids, your friend, your co-worker.
And we can get it done and in time.
This blogging journey is a new one for me. It’s an offshoot of my teaching career and then combines with my interest in many-things-internet. I’ve always wanted to do it…
If there is something specific that you would like to see, let me know – and I’ll try to help you find a solution! If learning about this blogging thing is of interest, I’d love to share that journey with you as well!
Say “I love you” with the gift of a handmade card…and let this be a great self-care activity for you as well!
Need a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator? It would be a privilege to help you with that too!
